Lego in its original format was simple stuff, you bought it, you unpacked it, you stuck it together, you built stuff, you smashed it and you put it back in the box. Nowadays though, Lego is so much more than Pirate Ships and Petrol Stations. There are tonnes of Lego products including video games, Bionics, Architecture, Exoforce and even Lego Sponge Bob Square Pants.
Now as Lego purists all these new and commercial products can’t really touch the real thing, however there is one thing that Lego are doing that has got the whole of the internet (and the Headbox office) buzzing…. Lego Universe.
Lego Universe is a brand new MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, think World of Warcraft, Second Life etc) developed by NetDevil. Scheduled for a late 2010 release Lego Universe will be exactly what it says it is, an online universe completely made up of everything Lego. Not too much is known about what the actual game play will involve but it will revolve around users working together to save the Lego world from a dark force known as the Maelstrom.
As we get closer to the release date there is sure to be a lot more information released about Lego Universe but for the time being we all we have to get excited by is internet rumours and this trailer:
