When you’re a startup like us, you’ve got to find what your recipe for success looks like to you. There is no one-size-fits-all solution to all of the issues a company can face in its infancy. But when you’re running low on manpower and experiencing rapid growth, it’s necessary to automate certain systems in order to meet your goals. With that in mind, we’ve gathered a list of our favourite tech tools that we use to help us reach our goals. These tools compliment our working style and team to create our recipe for success and keep a budding startup like us stay ahead of the game.
Building the site
First things first, as a online marketplace we have a vast website that requires constantly updating and managing. Our developers do a sterling job at fixing any bugs that might arise but they don’t have the time or resources to manage every new page we want to build or edit. We needed to find a software that allowed us to create, publish and manage our website and its content without having to get the developers involved at every stage of the process. That’s where a Content Management System comes in. These softwares enable your team to use your favourite website frameworks and services to build working products. We use ours on a daily basis to build, update and optimise sections of our website, allowing us to free up our developer’s time to work on our bigger projects!
A way of talking to your customers
When you’re a growing company with a large client base like us, you need to find an efficient way of being able to manage your database and communicate with customers in order to provide excellent customer service. In our web-centred world, it didn’t make sense for us to communicate with our clients via the phone and email. Find a customer messaging software that you can connect up to your website. It makes it easy to connect with your visitors and communicate with them in real time through instant messenger, email and a bespoke support centre. Our account managers are now available to respond to requests immediately as and when they come in.
Social media is hugely important for any company wanting to promote their brand. But manually posting several times a day to multiple platforms is an incredibly time consuming and inefficient process. There’s plenty of Social Media Management softwares out there that allow you to plan and schedule parts of your content strategy all in one place. From blogs and emails to Twitter and Linkedin posts, you can create and schedule quality content every day of the week. The software will then publish your social media posts automatically at the time that you have set. We plan all of our content on one of these softwares, allowing our time-poor Digital Content Executives to simultaneously work on the other multiple projects we have on the go at a given time.
When you’re working at a startup it can be a struggle to keep track of your team’s workload. You’re all working on so many projects simultaneously, that staying up to date on who’s doing what can seem like an impossible challenge. That’s why we use a Company Management Web application that’s designed to help teams track our workload. You can manually add in your to-do list, assign it to a team member, category or project and set a deadline. You are then sent a notification straight to your inbox every few days to remind you when a task is nearly due or overdue. You can also message members of your team via the software and assign tasks to other people whenever you need a helping hand!
