Our favourite unique Christmas Parties
Doing Christmas differently is a surefire way of setting your Christmas party away from the homogenous crowd.
Sure, the age-old litany of tinsel, tree and too many bailey's is tried and tested: but who doesn't want to shake things up?
A truly unique Christmas party requires a truly unique Xmas venue. We're talking swimming pool parties, Bavarian Cafes, Industrial units and everything else that makes you community hall seem a bit dull. So, discard the Santa hat and prepared to get weird this Christmas.

1. A unique Christmas party on the Thames: Woods Quay
A saunter away from the gleaming stonework of the Savoy hotel sits a hidden venue that would make a perfect unusual backdrop to a Christmas party. Woods Quay is on the edge of Embankment (literally, you hear the Thames lapping against the deck), and feels a million miles from the chaos of the city.
Recently opened, with awards already under its belt, Woods Quay can provide 250 festive friends uninterrupted views over the Thames, with space inside and out for a seamless Christmas party experience.
Unique in this instance does not mean standards are relaxed. The Michelin-standard tasting room ensures 56 lucky guests can feats on the goodies offered by the venue's chefs, whilst the clean, well-designed interior will provide the perfect backdrop to your Christmas decorations.
2. An unusually sustainable Christmas party venue: Wyld
Doing things differently doesn't preclude being responsible.
Wyld, London's most sustainable nightclub, could prove a unique Christmas party venue through its admirable commitment to reducing carbon emissions whilst retaining the potential for hedonistic excess.
Butterlfy-Mark accredited, Wyld pairs disco balls, hanging plants and mirrored walls in a unique space big enough for 300 Christmas party goers. The result is bold, iconic and, of course, environmentally conscious. Have your Christmas party here and you'll definitely make the 'nice' list.
3. A swimmingly good Christmas party venue with a difference: Clifton Lido
If swimming pools seem anathema to a great Christmas party, then what hell are you doing on this list?
Opening all the way back in 1850 under the moniker of Clifton Victoria Baths, Bristol's most recognisable public pool makes for a truly unusual Christmas party venue. With water kept at a comfortable 24 degrees (interestingly the average temperature of cranberry sauce), spa facilities and its own restaurant, you can get your Christmas meal, party and swim all in one place.
Clifton Lido can hold 150 guests this Christmas, and have a range of catering options. Just don't jump in right after your fifth helping of turkey, no one wants to see that.
4. A Christmas party with a boozy twist: Gravity Bar, Guinness Storehouse
A pint of the black stuff is, in our mind, the ultimate Christmas drink.
A snowy white head settling like the first flakes of an oncoming blizzard. Where better to enjoy your Christmas pint than the unique floor of Dublin's Guinness Storehouse?
The strange, disk-like apportion at the top of the historic Storehouse gives uninterrupted views over the city, allowing you to see as far as the Dublin mountains. It's a venue for those who want their Christmas to have an edge – and when you want to take that edge off, there's a nice pint of Guinness waiting for you.
The Gravity Bar can cater for up to 270 revellers, with breakout spaces, plenty of natural light and plenty of well-poured pints.
5. A bizarre Christmas party venue: Ripley's Believe It or Not
On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me:
12 cannibal skulls
11 shrunken heads
10 rotating virvel tunnels
9 Swarovski crystals
8 gloves that were worn by King Charles
7 of Napoleon's hairs
6 abdication speeches
5 mummified hands
4 candy portraits of Michael Jackson
3 woollen Ferraris
2 animatronic T-Rex's
and a life-sized replica of a Lizard Man.
Ripley's invented the unusual party. That's all we have to say.
