The Art Gallery Restaurant, Crafted by Matt Moran, is situated on the ground level of the Art Gallery of New South Wales' original south building, now referred to as Naala Nura.

The recently refurbished room features a warm and inviting atmosphere, enhanced by floor-to-ceiling windows that offer stunning views over East Sydney. With its natural charm, minimal additional styling is needed to create a welcoming space for visitors to enjoy.

The space is available for exclusive hire in the evenings, accommodating private dinners and wedding receptions for up to 116 guests. The adjoining function room serves as a versatile space, suitable for dance floors or as a pre-drinks area.

The harbour terrace is situated on lower level 1 of the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ new north building, now known as Naala Badu. 

With panoramic views of Woolloomooloo Bay, this outdoor space serves as a premier destination for art experiences and social gatherings in Sydney. The terrace can accommodate up to 300 guests in a cocktail-style setting, making it an ideal location for pre-dinner drinks or networking events. Its close proximity to the adjoining MOD Dining and Meers Hall on Level 2 provides a seamless transition for guests attending larger functions or exclusive celebrations.

The Domain Theatre and foyer, located on lower level 3 of Naala Nura, the Art Gallery of New South Wales' south building, are now available for hire following an extensive refurbishment. This renovation was carried out by the renowned Australian architectural firm Tonkin Zulaikha Greer.

The Domain Theatre is a fully equipped, tiered auditorium designed to accommodate a wide range of production needs. It features a large, cinema-sized screen and comfortable seating, providing an ideal setting for various events. With a DCP player included, the theatre is also well-suited for film premieres and screenings.

The adjoining foyer can be used for event registration as well as catering. The theatre is used by the Art Gallery to host film and lecture programs at various times during the week.

Domain Theatre and Foyer

Situated on lower level 2, the striking sculpture gallery and its adjoining double-height atrium serve as the centerpiece of the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ new north building, now referred to as Naala Badu.

The space showcases a rotating selection of sculptural works and is ideally positioned to highlight the building’s remarkable architectural features.

The venue's largest space for cocktail events provides direct access to the beautifully landscaped sculpture garden. It also serves as an ideal setting for pre-dinner drinks at events and wedding receptions held in the adjacent Meers Hall, as well as for wedding ceremonies.

Atrium

The function room at the Art Gallery of New South Wales is situated at the end of the entrance court on the ground level of the original south building, now referred to as Naala Nura.

Featuring timber flooring and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of East Sydney, this bright, contemporary space serves as a versatile setting for various events. The function room is available for exclusive hire during the evening when the Art Gallery is closed, making it an ideal venue for wedding ceremonies, receptions, and other special occasions.

Since the function room is adjacent to the restaurant, the two spaces can be combined to form a larger venue, accommodating up to 300 guests for an evening cocktail-style event.

This is the hall on lower level 2 features timber flooring and floor-to-ceiling windows with views out to the sculpture garden and to the adjacent sculpture gallery and atrium.

Meers Hall is designed to accommodate a wide variety of events. It can host up to 450 guests for cocktail receptions, 280 for banquet dinners, or 300 in a theatre-style setup. Ideal for everything from conferences and awards nights to weddings and hybrid events, the hall is available for both daytime and evening hire, with exclusive after-hours options for wedding celebrations.

Meers Hall

The Centenary Auditorium is on lower level 1 of the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ original south building, now known as Naala Nura.

One of two theatre spaces at the Art Gallery, alongside the Domain Theatre, this venue is well-suited for various corporate events, including one- to two-day conferences and evening presentations. It features comfortable, tiered seating for up to 90 guests and is equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual technology.

During the day, conferences can be held in the auditorium, with the function room available for break-out sessions and catering. In the evening, presentations can be combined with networking experiences in one of the Art Gallery’s other event spaces. The auditorium’s proximity to the 20th-century galleries also allows for exhibition viewings as part of the event.

Centenary Auditorium

Situated on lower level 1 of the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ new building, now known as Naala Badu, this light-filled space with its impressive, curved roof has views to Woolloomooloo Bay, Sydney Harbour and East Sydney.

The MOD Dining space can host up to 80 guests seated at long tables with the existing furniture or up to 150 guests for a cocktail-style event. It seamlessly connects to the harbour terrace, offering additional event planning possibilities. Both spaces are available for hire outside of the Art Gallery's opening hours.
