All good things begin underground. Tucked below the precinct, this is the space guests are least likely to have seen, which is exactly why it lands. Heritage detail, intimate proportions and a sense of discovery make it well suited to cocktail events and corporate gatherings where you want the room itself to be part of the story people tell afterwards.

Located on the Ground Floor of Postal Hall at 1 Cathedral Avenue, Perth WA 6000, POST is an Italian-inspired osteria and bar within Perth's historic State Buildings precinct. The restaurant occupies the former franking room of Perth's original General Post Office, giving the space a strong heritage character while its contemporary dining environment creates a warm and polished setting for gatherings. POST centres its dining experience around Italian cooking, seasonal local produce, shared plates and considered wine, with a relaxed approach to hospitality that encourages guests to linger around the table. Its central Perth CBD location also provides convenient access to the wider State Buildings precinct, with valet parking available through COMO The Treasury.

Exclusive Hire gives organisers use of the entire POST dining floor, creating a private setting for guests to dine and celebrate together. The space measures approximately 13.7m x 7.7m (105.49m²) and can accommodate up to 70 guests for a seated event, making it particularly suited to wedding celebrations, corporate dinners, milestone celebrations and private group dining. The long-table format works naturally with POST's Italian dining style, with menus designed around seasonal produce, shared dishes and generous dining experiences. The dedicated events team can also help tailor the occasion to suit the event, while POST's wine offering and food-focused atmosphere make the space well suited to occasions where dining and conversation are central to the experience.

The restaurant has been thoughtfully reimagined as an all-day Italian osteria, combining the heritage of the building with a crisp, contemporary dining environment. POST celebrates Italian culinary traditions through seasonal menus and high-quality local produce, creating a warm and relaxed setting where guests can enjoy long lunches, shared dinners and carefully considered wine. POST Franking Room

A separate room off the main dining floor with the same outlook, the same kitchen behind it and a door that closes. It suits smaller seated lunches and dinners, board-level hosting and celebrations that want privacy without leaving the restaurant behind. Guests still get the full Wildflower experience, the seasonal menu and the cellar, in a setting where the evening stays entirely their own.

Wildflower Private Dining Room

Wildflower

A refined setting for wine-led gatherings, surrounded by the cellar itself. The bottles line the walls, the light is low, and the room naturally slows an evening down. It works for intimate dining, client entertaining, guided tastings and small celebrations, matched with thoughtful menus, curated wine and service that stays exactly as present as it needs to be.

Outdoor Space

Wildflower - Exclusive

The open-air side of Petition, spilling out onto the terrace and into the life of the precinct. It is made for sunny afternoons and long evenings, where the food keeps coming, the group spreads out and nobody is watching the clock. A relaxed, sociable option for celebrations, networking events and functions that want the city around them rather than shut out.

Petition Alfresco

Petition Collective

A high-walled heritage courtyard, open to the sky and lit up once the sun goes down, entirely its own world despite sitting in the middle of the city. Thai canapés and cold drinks work beautifully here, particularly for standing events through the warmer months. Good for launches, team celebrations and anything that benefits from being outside without leaving the CBD.

CAPACITY: 0-25, 26-35, 36-50, 51-100 (section hires available)

Long Chim Courtyard

Postal Hall

A relaxed inner-city dining hub built around the best of WA produce, served share-style and designed for people to reach across the table. The room is generous rather than formal, which makes it a strong fit for wedding celebrations, group dining and functions where the food should feel abundant instead of arranged. Local, unfussy and genuinely convivial.

Petition - Exclusive Hire

David Thompson's Bangkok street food, served loud and unapologetic in the barrel-vaulted basement of the State Buildings. Exclusive use of the restaurant gives a group the whole world of it, from the colour on the walls to the heat in the food. It suits celebrations, corporate dinners and any occasion where you want the room to break the ice before you do.

CAPACITY: 96 seated (long tables) | 250 cocktail (indoor + outdoor)

Long Chim - Exclusive Hire

Three spacious, interconnected rooms with timber-shuttered windows and walls carrying Alex and Philippa Nikulinsky's Cape Arid Collection. The layout lets a group move rather than sit still, with one room for arrival drinks and another for dining, or the whole set opened up for canapés. Light-filled, flexible and quietly beautiful, it suits private dining and celebrations equally well.

CAPACITY: 32pax Seated (banquet) | 80pax Cocktail | 35pax Section Hire (lounge one)

Cape Arid Rooms

Located within the historic State Buildings at 1 Cathedral Avenue, Perth WA 6000, POST Osteria & Bar occupies the former franking room of Western Australia's first General Post Office. The restaurant combines the character of the heritage building with a refined yet relaxed Italian dining experience, centred around seasonal produce, traditional Italian cooking and a considered wine list. With its warm dining atmosphere, heritage architecture and central Perth CBD location, POST provides an elegant setting for private dining, corporate entertaining and special celebrations within one of Perth's most distinctive hospitality precincts. (State Buildings)

The POST Titles Room is an intimate private dining space designed for smaller gatherings where privacy and conversation are at the heart of the experience. Its more intimate scale makes it particularly suitable for client entertaining, board lunches, milestone birthdays, private dinners and corporate gatherings, providing guests with their own dedicated setting while remaining connected to the atmosphere and hospitality of POST. Guests can enjoy the same Italian-inspired cuisine and carefully selected wine offering available throughout the restaurant, with the private setting creating a more personal and exclusive dining experience. The room is especially well suited to occasions where hosts want a sophisticated environment for meaningful conversation, shared dining and attentive hospitality without the scale of a larger function space.

POST Titles Room

Formerly the Lands and Titles building, now a versatile, light-filled space with high ceilings, jarrah floors, original Western Australian artwork and views across Stirling Gardens. It moves easily between a conference, a workshop, a networking event, a private dinner and a cocktail party, often across the same day. One of the hardest-working rooms in the precinct.

The Mark

The loosest and most sociable corner of the building, surrounded by layers of history and driven by great beer from independent brewers. It fills easily with a crowd who came to talk rather than be seen, which makes it right for after-work functions, team celebrations and relaxed weddings. Casual, lively and small enough that a group takes the whole room over.

CAPACITY: 150pax cocktail | 15pax, 20pax, 40pax Section Hire (seated)

Beer Corner

Tucked away from the bustle of the city, this is the quieter, more considered end of Petition. Shelves of interesting bottles, a team who know every one of them, and a setting that feels refined without ever being stiff. It suits tastings, launches, supplier dinners, and long lunches for groups who want to drink something they have not had before.

CAPACITY: 50pax Cocktail | 30pax Seated (banquet)

Wine Merchant

A private, considered room for the meetings that matter, with the technology and the service to keep a full day running without interruption. Guests can also use the Library as a breakout space. Board meetings, strategy days, interviews and negotiations all sit comfortably here, in a heritage setting that makes going off site feel like a genuine improvement on the office.
