The Old Kempton Distillery is situated 90 minutes south of Launceston and 45 minutes north of Hobart. Get ready for a breathtakingly gorgeous picturesque journey down the Midland Highway. OKD is open everyday from 10 am to 4 pm. Functions for the night are not offered. Since there is currently no public transportation to Kempton, it is advised to rent your own vehicle.
The cellar door/cafe at Old Kempton Distillery features two quaintly refurbished eating areas known as The Juniper Room and The Barley Room, as well as a lovely courtyard where you can relax and savor some home-cooked goodies from the cafe menu. Their brand-new Cask Lounge is filled with cozy chairs, beautiful casks, and a botanic wall, making it the perfect place to unwind while sipping a drink.
OKD's fully licensed café has live music every Sunday from September to March. They have a range of tasting flights and tour options to suit all tastes.
Dysart House which is now the location of Old Kempton Distillerey's cellar door was originally a grand coaching inn built in 1842. Guests can still appreciate the Georgian feel of the building today in the many areas OKD has to offer.
The Barley Room, named after the grain they use to distil whisky, is an elegant dining area, that can host large groups across three tables with one large table that is ideal for meetings. This room can accommodate up to 30 guests.
