The Old Kempton Distillery is situated 90 minutes south of Launceston and 45 minutes north of Hobart. Get ready for a breathtakingly gorgeous picturesque journey down the Midland Highway. OKD is open everyday from 10 am to 4 pm. Functions for the night are not offered. Since there is currently no public transportation to Kempton, it is advised to rent your own vehicle.
The cellar door/cafe at Old Kempton Distillery features two quaintly refurbished eating areas known as The Juniper Room and The Barley Room, as well as a lovely courtyard where you can relax and savor some home-cooked goodies from the cafe menu. Their brand-new Cask Lounge is filled with cozy chairs, beautiful casks, and a botanic wall, making it the perfect place to unwind while sipping a drink.
OKD's fully licensed café has live music every Sunday from September to March, a range of tasting flights and tour options to suit all, and is kid-friendly and dog friendly. Dysart house, being a heritage-listed Georgian-style ex-coaching house, offers customers a look into Tasmania’s amazing history.
The Courtyard features original flagstones that were placed in the 1800’s perfect for outdoor events in the warmer months.
The Courtyard at OKD is available for live music and gives guests access to an outdoor bar for drinks. This space has a variety of seating and can also be set up for a variety of event types. The Courtyard is spacious enough to hold up to 80 guests for a seated dining event and hold up to 120 guests for a cocktail styled function.
