Housed in the heritage-listed former Department of Education building—originally designed by government architect George McRae in the early 1900s—Capella Sydney underwent a meticulous seven-year restoration before reopening in March 2023. The hotel retains its striking Edwardian Baroque architecture, including a sandstone façade and elegant marble-clad vestibules. Smith Rooms 1&2 are elegant spaces which can accommodate up to 64 guests seated, or 80 guests standing.
