Sites don't come much more impressive than the Grade-II listed Piazza Italiana on historic Threadneedle Street in the City of London. This majestic building was one of the British Linen Bank, but today it provides a grand setting for some classic Italian cooking, courtesy of Sicilian chef Remo Mazzucato. Mazzucato and the team have assembled a menu that shines a light on great dishes from all over Italy, focusing on authenticity and seasonal ingredients. Expect a menu that covers arancini, burrata and Italian antipasti, as well as classic pasta dishes, meat and fish dishes, sharing platters and Cicchetti. Piazza Italiana also offers a number of private dining areas for hire, each one as spectacular as the last. The jewel in the crown at Piazza Italiana is without doubt the Ante Chamber room - a private dining room designed as a contemporary interpretation of the old Venetian palaces. A chandelier hangs from the high ceiling, casting moody shadows across the room. This space is about grandeur, but the colour palette is soft and muted, giving the Ante Chamber a feeling of relaxed opulence. With a capacity for 14 diners, this is the perfect space for a cosy dinner with friends or family.
