Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of Piccadilly Circus, SOMA is a modern and minimalistic take on the basement speakeasy. From the duo behind Kricket, it serves up drinks into the small hours, influenced by the Indian subcontinent and neighbouring countries. Matching the minimalistic drinks list are simple and elegant interiors, led by nascent architecture and design studio Bureau Cake in collaboration with interior designer Max Radford. A 9-metre long hand-finished stainless steel bar seating up to 25 guests takes pride of place and is surrounded by a striking midnight blue single track curtain, a nod to theatreland where SOMA is based Adjacent to the long bar is an intimate lounge room with low tables and comfy burnt orange sofas. This area can be closed off and made private and/or is ideal for both groups and exclusive events.
