The church will be closed for essential restoration work and will re-open Autumn 2024. Please do get in touch with us for venue hire enquiries for November 2024 onwards.
St Stephen Walbrook Church, Sir Christopher Wren’s masterpiece, has been described as one of the ten most important buildings in England. The main space is crowned by the first dome to be built in the UK (it predates St Paul’s Cathedral).
The interior, which was substantially reordered in the 1980s is focussed around a central stone altar, carved by Henry Moore in travertine marble which stands on a beautiful white marble floor surrounded by Circular pews which are removable.
The main space can accommodate a number of event formats including drinks reception for 200 guests or a seated dinner for up to 80 guests around the magnificent circular altar.
Below the church is a small crypt with brick arches which was the birthplace of The Samaritans, the world’s first telephone helpline. The ministry of the church continues to focus on wellbeing and mental health today.
Located by Bank Station St Stephen Walbrook is a hidden gem within the city perfect for events and celebrations.
Also perfect for filming, in 2021 The Church was the backdrop for HBO/BBC production The Girl Before.
