George Moore, playwright, and novelist was born in County Mayo. He may have written "The Bending of the Bow" while staying at The Shelbourne and he immortalised the hotel in his third novel "A Drama in Muslin". The suite which now bears his name is beautifully furnished with opulent silk wall coverings and a crystal chandelier, providing a graceful and distinguished welcome for up to 24 guests.
