2. A subway station speakeasy on the edge of Koreatown: Noksu

Midtown, NYC

At the 32nd St and Broadway entrance to the Herald Square subway station one can find trains, turnstiles, commuters, and— believe it or not— a Korean fine-dining restaurant. Noksu is everything the subway is not— sleek, minimal, and a true oasis amidst the crowded, bustling Midtown station.

A 2024 Michelin Star recipient, Noksu boasts a 9-course menu from Chef Dae Kim. This Korean-French fusion cuisine consists mainly of seafood, with two rounds of game, ending with two dessert courses. Menu highlights include the Surf Clam with Caviar and Egg Custard, and the Barbeque Squab, inspired by NYC’s Chinatown.

Though Noksu is already an exclusive affair with its 15-seat tasting counter, the restaurant offers an additional private dining room for tight-knit gatherings and small events of 4-8 people.

3. Where Seoul meets the streets of NYC: SEOUL SALON

Midtown, NYC

What happens when you combine the art and culture salons of Europe with the modern Sool Jib (drinking establishment) culture found in Seoul? Add some of that NYC style and you get SEOUL SALON, a small plates and cocktail bar in Koreatown.

Enjoy authentic Korean cuisine in the main dining room, which is reminiscent of a classic diner complete with teal tiling and neon signs. Start off with the Pine Nut Salad before digging into the signature Rose Tteokbokki with Gimmari. Add a side of gim or white rice, then finish the dining experience with banana milk shaved ice. Pair your meal with an innovative selection of cocktails that include ingredients such as Soju, mezcal, Madeira Wine, and Oolong tea gin.

SEOUL SALON can accommodate parties in their two private dining rooms, which are as stylish as they are intimate. The main private dining room can host up to ten guests, while the larger Mezzanine fits up to 34.
