Our pick of BAaD’s spaces for a birthday party is the upstairs mezzanine (cap. 65 standing, 50 seated) that overlooks the striking glass-domed courtyard. It leads on from the restaurant (which can also be hired for more space) and comes with speakers and unique lighting for when the sun sets.

Not as old-timey but still boasting a late 18th-century establishment date, the Sloans of Mac ‘n’ Cheese fame is everybody’s favourite pub in toon, tucked away in a little lane between Buchanan Street and Argyle Street.

Situated on the top floor, the Grand Ballroom – home to Sloans famous ceilidh – comes with all that you need for a birthday party: a private bar and a dance floor. But really, the space is stunning with original features, a fireplace, and a wooden herringbone floor that’s seen a lot of dancing over the decades. The ballroom can host 100 for a seated dinner or 120 for a buffet and drinks.

Wedged between the Tennent’s Brewery and the Necropolis (dead quiet neighbours), Drygate Brewery is known for its bar and kitchen, live events, and tours of the microbrewery but you can also hire the Peaks Bar which makes it a great space for a birthday bash.

Located in that most industrial part of an industrial city, near the M8 just before you cross the Clyde, Box Hub’s Vennel event space is a handcrafted bar occupying a repurposed shipping container and was once a hub for whisky production and distribution.

The event space features an atrium-style glass-roofed ceiling and is the ideal venue blank canvas birthday party space. The capacity is 225 standing or 90 seated and includes available drinks packages, the bar, AV equipment, staging, and on-site parking, and is animal friendly!

For weddings, graduations, and birthday parties for ages, you can’t go wrong with a party at Òran Mór. Beneath the celestial ceiling mural painted by Alasdair Gray, and framed by pagan windows, The Auditorium’s beautiful period features dressed up in party lights create the classic birthday bash.

Directly across the botanical gardens, on the corner of Byres Road and Great Western Road, Òran Mór’s Auditorium features a private bar and entrance, cloakroom, mezzanine, private toilets, PA system, and staging. The iconic event space accommodates 276 in a banquet style.
