What's New in Manchester?

Manchester is buzzing with new places to eat and drink, and there’s no better time to enjoy them than in the brief window of summer. Whether it’s a laid-back natural wine bar in Ancoats, a fire-fuelled restaurant in the Northern Quarter, or a new café slinging kimchi toasties in Chorlton, we’re always on the lookout for new spots. Here’s our pick of a few new and upcoming Manchester openings that have excited us.

Circolo Popolare
After taking the internet by storm with their London restaurant, the Big Mamma Group have brought their Italian eatery to Manchester. This stunning restaurant transports you to Italy with its twinkling eucalyptus and wisteria canopy. For group bookings, they have both an 18-seat table and an additional 24-seat dining room. Here, they serve a £54 set-sharing menu, which features crowd-pleasers like burrata, focaccia, ragù spaghetti, San Marzano pizza and a selection of desserts, including their iconic tiramisu.

Erst.
You may not have heard of Erst yet, but after trying their beef-fat flatbread, I guarantee that you will be a fan. This newly opened restaurant serving small plates is the perfect location for your next dinner. Its Michelin Guide status speaks for itself, but to quote their raving review, “It's truly a restaurant for our times, but cooking like this would be a joy in any era” (Michelin Guide, 2025). With frequent menu changes, Erst offers meals made with the highest quality seasonal produce and a range of natural wines. Served in a modern, industrial-style space, this opening is not one to miss.

Winsome
Chef Shaun Moffat’s latest venture delivers a delicious, produce-led take on modern English cuisine. With a relaxed atmosphere and an open galley kitchen, diners can sit back and watch the chefs prepare their food while enjoying a drink from their extensive selection. Focusing on fresh fish and locally sourced meats, the menu includes oysters, sausages, hake and seasonal salads. The two and three-course set menus cost £35 and £39 respectively. For those with a sweet tooth, I highly recommend finishing off your meal with their honey cake with rosemary ice cream, a comforting finish that’s well worth saving room for.

Soho House Manchester
Calling all creatives... Soho House is opening its doors in the North of England for the first time. Manchester is often accused of being the ‘London of the North.’ Well, what better way to add fuel to this fire than the addition of a Soho House, and their particular brand of Instagram-optimised hospitality. As a self-described ‘home away from home’ for its members to eat, drink, and unwind, Soho House continues to attract its usual crowd: sub-standard DJs, ‘freelance artists’, and everyone else with their parents’ card on Apple Pay. With their globe-conquering mission of giving you FOMO and raising local rent prices, the proposed October opening is sure to spark excitement and debate across the city.

Chotto Matte
Chef Kurt Zdesar intended to create a visionary yet accessible fine dining experience, and is success is evident in Chotto Matte, a rooftop restaurant that blends exquisite food, skyline views, and sophisticated fine dining. Their mouth-watering Japanese-Peruvian food is met with equally great live entertainment, making this new spot a must-try. If their Soho location is anything to go by, offering everything from brunch and sharing menus to à la carte, lunch and pre-theatre tasting menus, Manchester can expect a similar array of tempting options.

Mollies Motel
Another standout newcomer is Mollie's Motel. The latest concept from Soho House’s founder, Nick Jones. These motels are a stylish reinvention of the classic American motel-diners. Despite its budget prices, it features a library-lounge to cater to all your work and social needs, an all-day brunch and diner menu, 128 rooms, a cocktail bar and live music venue. Molllies also has a private dining room for up to 30 people and a collection of flexible meeting rooms. You will find Mollies on Quay Street, paying tribute to the vibrant legacy of its predecessor, the iconic Old Grenada Studios.
