7. We want to be in the room where it happened: Fraunces Tavern

Financial District, NYC

Known as NYC's oldest bar, Fraunces Tavern has been around since 1762, though the building itself was built in 1719 – older than the country itself. George Washington famously gave a farewell speech to his troops here before becoming President. Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr were Fraunces regulars and were both present at a pub event only one week prior to their famed duel. It’s a pub that hasn’t changed much since then (other than the added indoor plumbing, we’re not animals). This FiDi tavern is perfect for Broadway groupies, history buffs, or just those who love a good pint. Also a restaurant, Fraunces can be reserved for a number of private event sizes up to 120 guests. Make sure to check out the attached museum for the whole experience, and keep an eye out on their events schedule for live music.
