Summer Party Venues Midtown

Why on Earth would you want to stay in the city – Midtown, especially – on a summer’s day when it’s so meltingly hot you can smell the sidewalk baking in the sun and feel sweat dripping down your back? We’d much rather pack up shop, grab a few roadies, and head out of the city or to a park at the very least.

Alas, sometimes it’s more convenient or cheaper to stay. Maybe you’re just after a rooftop to annex and hold court for the company summer party. Whatever you need for a Midtown summer party venue, we’ve got you covered. They’re all pretty similar, so we recommend going with what’s best for your budget and guestlist.

1. Escape the madness of Midtown: Roof at Park South

Midtown, New York

Roof at Park South is on E 27th Street in Kips Bay and is our pick for a Midtown summer party venue if you want the stunning views of the Manhattan skyline but none of the madness of Midtown. We really rate the quality of the menus at Roof, from their ceviche and tacos to the frozen cocktails. They offer semi-private and private gatherings ranging from 15 to 175 guests, so it’s a good one if you’re looking for something for a smaller, intimate gathering.

2. Midtown summer party venue in the Garment District: Castell Rooftop Lounge

Midtown, New York

Castell Rooftop Lounge atop the AC Hotel is the kind of chic bar you’d expect to find in the Garment District. It’s both an indoor bar and an open-air terrace, where the cocktails are classic (think Old Fashioneds and Gin and Tonics) and the views are iconic. There are 3,400 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space and can accommodate up to 165 guests for a cocktail reception. If it’s style and poise you’re after in your summer party venue, then it’s Castell Rooftop that you want.

3. In the shadow of the Empire State Building: Cloud Social Rooftop Bar

Midtown, New York

Located on W 32nd Street, there’s only one block between Cloud Social and the Empire State Building. It’s relaxed, unpretentious, and regularly plays host to parties as any rooftop bar worth its salt should. Averaging $17 for a cocktail and $16 for a glass of wine, it’s one of our more affordable and casual picks for a Midtown summer party venue. The space can accommodate up to 130 guests seated and 140 standing, and costs start at $130 per person.

4. An upscale rooftop summer party venue in Midtown: 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar

Midtown, New York

230 Fifth has the epic boast of being New York’s largest year-round rooftop bar and event space and at 33,000 square feet of space, it’s difficult to contradict them. With the half-dozen blocks between 230 Fifth and the Empire State, the rooftop is far enough away that goliath building fits perfectly in the background of your photos. A chic penthouse bar and garden with deck furniture, and DJs, the only thing that’s missing is a pool. 230 Fifth is the place if your guestlist and budget are high.

5. High above Times Square: Haven Rooftop

Midtown, New York

We’d normally avoid Times Square like the plague, but a rooftop sojourn doesn’t seem so bad. Located atop the Sanctuary Hotel, in contrast to the busy streets below, Haven Rooftop is a laidback bar and events space. Cabana furniture, Manhattan skyline views, $19 cocktails, and $15 for a glass of wine – not too shabby for a Midtown summer party venue in our opinion.

From $9,000 per hour, the North Bar can be privately rented for 30-80 guests or semi-private for 10-30 guests. Food and drinks are included with the rental fee.
