The best galleries in Brooklyn for a private event

Showing up at a party and having no one to talk to has to rank in the top 10 most uncomfortable feelings, and being in an art gallery doesn’t ease that anxiety. There is often a stigma of sophistication in galleries: well-dressed people deeply analyze the meaning behind a painting, but all you can see when you try is a boring bowl of fruit.

However, these stereotypes don't mean all galleries are uncomfortable. We have found the best galleries in Brooklyn that let you customize the vibe of your event, making it as casual or classy as you want.

1. The Brooklyn gallery that can make the space yours: Clover's Gallery

Brooklyn, New York

Warm lighting and exposed brick are exactly what you would expect in a Brooklyn gallery. Even though it's expected, that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Steps away from Barclays Center is Clover's Gallery, which has hardwood floors and high tin ceilings. All 2,000 sq. ft. of the gallery offers a cozy and flexible space for your event, with chandeliers and a Petrof grand piano adding a touch of elegance.

Are you holding an event where you need to feed ravenous guests? This Brooklyn gallery has a staging kitchen. Are you hosting a wedding and want it to feel more personal? This venue also lets you put up your own decor and images on the walls to make your event feel special. Whatever the case may be, there’s nothing like a gallery to serve as a blank canvas.

3. A Brooklyn gallery that gets straight to the point: Gallery 198

Brooklyn, New York

Right near Gowanus Bay is Gallery 198, a 3,000-square-foot Brooklyn gallery that does the job and does it right. While the main area feels small, the spiral staircase allows you to wander to a lofted area, adding dimension to the space. The white walls and concrete floors don’t distract from the artwork displayed on the walls, ensuring it stays the true center of attention. Additionally, the bare walls are also suited for production environments.

Gallery 198 accommodates up to 50 people, and hosts can use its projector on a 10-foot screen, the professional audio system, and the fully operational bar.

4. Step inside a Crayola Crayon Box: The Living Gallery

Brooklyn New York

Nothing captures someone's attention like bright lights and colors, which is precisely what happens when you look at the exterior of The Living Gallery. Whether you want to take one of its Drink & Draw classes or host an event like a photo shoot or reception, anything is possible at this Brooklyn gallery.
