The hottest new openings in London this summer | 2025
London is an ever-changing city. The sheer number of venues opening every day can feel like a bewildering experience. Whether it's a sando shop, restaurant, listening bar or wine bar, we update our favourite London openings monthly. While this list is not exhaustive (there are simply too many openings compared to our number of writers), we focus on the latest London openings that have caught our attention and feel worthy of your patronage.

Humble Chicken 3.0
Though it’s a great name for a neighbourhood chicken shop, Humble Chicken can’t be further from it. After winning its second Michelin Star last year, this Soho omakase spot has undergone a complete makeover, redesigning its interior and downsizing to allow for a more intimate experience (for 13 people, to be exact). Innovative takes on Japanese-inspired dishes include pairings you might never have thought to put together; sweetcorn, soy custard, and caviar, anyone?. And if you’ve ever wanted to try pigeon (perhaps after a traumatising interaction in Hyde Park? Anyone else?), this is the place – they use every part of the animal across multiple courses. The single set omakase tasting menu is sixteen courses with beverage pairing options, and is priced at £235 for lunch and dinner. Just a bit more than a Morely’s.

The Macbeth Pub
Hoxton Street’s The Macbeth pub has been around since the 1800s, and it’s getting a new life next month. Led by Jamie Allan (of The Plimsoll and Tollington’s) and Patrick Nolan, it’ll be a blend of a Portuguese tasca and a classic East End pub. Its infamous 19th-century mural of the namesake play will be restored as the centrepiece, and food will include snail rice, pork and cheese rolls, and morcela fina.

Lupa
I once saw Theo James in a pub in Angel. I didn’t even know it was him at the time, because literally nobody cared. Apparently, Theo James is to Islingtoners as Paul Mescal is to Hackneyites – sightings are so frequent that people are generally unfazed. Anyway, he’s been hitting local headlines recently for a new venture off the big screen: the restaurant industry. Opened in collaboration with hospitality pro Ed Templeton and chef Naz Hassan, Lupa is a Roman trattoria in a leafy part of Highbury, just down the road from Emirates stadium. The bright corner space is welcoming and unpretentious, with Roman comfort food and a wine list to gawk at. Keep an eye out on match days when they’ll eventually roll out Italian sandwiches for takeaway.

New Forms
London refuses to let Hackney gatekeep all the city’s listening bars. From the Next Door Records team comes New Forms, a creative hub and café by day and a hi-fi vinyl bar by night. The interior evokes Sofia Coppola’s Tokyo and 70s modernist design, thoughtfully curated to be one of many forthcoming community spaces on Chelsea Manor Street. Find coffee, natural wines, and cocktails alongside the usual Next Door Records repertoire of diverse rotating DJs.

Little Fires
This Mexican-inspired cocktail bar spans two floors in a Grade II-listed building on Bethnal Green Road. You’ll be welcomed by a street-level bar and dining room, featuring original timber floors, a marble bar, leather banquettes, and ochre walls. Downstairs, there’s a Hi-Fi listening bar that’ll run into the late-night hours. The bar will hold an exclusive UK partnership with Asunción mezcal, also leaning heavily into tequila and other agave spirits. Food is a concise menu of Oaxacan snacks and small plates, spearheaded by the winner of Top Chef Mexico. It’s been hard to find good, authentic Mexican food on this side of the Atlantic, but it seems like London is well on its way.

The Salusbury Pub
I lived in Queen’s Park for two years, and always considered it West London’s hidden gem. Of course, as soon as I left it became a hotspot for new openings – like Don’t Tell Dad, the outstanding bakery that I made the trek from East London for, despite having lived just down the road six months prior. Adding to that list is The Salusbury, which used to be a confused gastro-pub attached to a deli, which served really good pizza and sold £14 olive oil. It’s since been transformed into a ritzy British pub, with an elevated Italian-fusion menu and a sophisticated interior with white tablecloths. Could it be NW6’s The Pelican or The Devonshire? Perhaps. I’ll have to get on the Overground again to find out.

Berenjak
As an Iranian, I always hoped I’d get extra privilege when trying to secure a Berenjak walk-in. I get the same reply every time: do saat tool mikeshe. There’s a two-hour wait. Luckily for me (and hundreds of other foodie Londoners), there’s a third location opening in Mayfair this summer. It’ll sit at the corner of Duke Street and Brown Hart Gardens, and like its SoHo and Borough locations, will likely offer up some exclusive menu items alongside the classics. The meat is tender, the vegetables are fresh, and it’s some of the most authentic Persian food you can get in London. Once you go Berenjak, you never go back.

hello JoJo
This colourful all-day restaurant and bakery has been slowly rolling out new offers since late May, but we have to include it here for some South London representation. As you may assume from their bright blue and poppy red exterior, the team at hello JoJo love to play with food. It’s truly an all day spot, from bakery goods like NYC pizza buns and cinnamon twists to dinner offerings of watermelon with dashi and shiso tajin and suffolk chicken with apricot. You can tell that there’s a lot of love and spirit in this place.

Carmela's
I lost count of how many NYC-style pizzerias I found while researching this piece. But something about Carmela’s has hit me different. Maybe it’s the deep red facade, or the cosy, unassuming way it’s tucked into Upper Street’s indie shops. Maybe it’s the fact that the coming soon sign was written on the back of a piece of scrap paper and taped to the window. I just have a good feeling, and as an East Coast transplant, I know a thing or two about NYC pizza. The owners do, too – they used to run Bite Twice, an Instagram blog focused specifically on pizzas. There’s not much info on the menu yet, but it’ll feature crisp-but-foldable pizzas (music to my ears) with custom toppings, and salads and snacks as sides.

Luna Wine Bar
This intimate, candlelit riverside wine bar is also a bottle shop, with a regularly changing list and enthusiastic sommeliers. Unlike recent trends, Luna aims to bring back the traditional wine bars of London and Paris, offering classic wine styles from prominent old-world producers. Owned by Jay Patel and cheffed by Matt Beardmore, both of whom also run Legare across the street, it’ll also offer elevated snacks like steak tartare with crisps and oysters with tomatillo and melon. It’s an intimate space, but summer is the perfect time to visit – there’s a terrace to enjoy riverside views of the Thames.
