1. A leafy garden with a Latin twist: Chiringuitos

Bethnal Green

Ok so more of a terrace than a garden, but this outdoor space is too fun to not include.

Combining East London charm with Spanish influence, Chiringuito is the latest edition in Bethnal Green's growing bar scene.

This popular spot has a beach bar vibe and serves food ideal for sharing. With a menu sporting everything from Spanish tapas, Catalan pinchos (or pintxos) or Peruvian ceviche, Chiniguito celebrates community and Latin culture. Come for a coffee or drop in for a drink from their vast selection.

For those warmer days, Chiringuito offers a park terrace, situated in the leafy Museum Gardens. This hidden gem has a capacity of 100 and is an ideal spot for customising your spring or summer events. A fully-stocked bar and catering are available, as are marquees and heaters to fend off the great British weather.

For a feel-good experience, enquire now and feel transported to the coast of southern Europe.

2. A beautiful London garden for hire hidden in plain sight: Shoreditch Gardens

Shoreditch, London

Travelling through the southern end of East London's thoroughfare of Kingsland Road, you'll find it hard to miss a grand, 18th-century Grade I-listed former almshouses. It's the beautiful setting of Shoreditch's paean to domesticity, the Museum of the Home (the best museum in the area, if you ask us). Whilst the attraction is fairly well known across London, its beautiful front-facing garden is a slept-on gem when it comes to London gardens for hire.

A well-kept lawn stretches out below handsome trees which, come summer, cast a beautiful dappled light across the whole garden area. There is room for 800 guests and food can be provided by KERB!, a well-respected catering company with affiliations to London's best street food traders.

Multiple packages are available, meaning whatever garden party you had in mind, this is probably going to tick the boxes – and a few more.

3. A private garden with plenty of outdoor space: 10-11 Carlton House Terrace

Westminster

The Carlton House Terrace offers over 10 rooms, each of them high-ceilinged and full of natural light and potential for hire. A highlight is its private gated garden in the heart of Westminster.

This leafy space looks over St. James and is a rarity in London. The Carlton Garden is flexible in event size with space to play games such as table tennis or to host an outdoor drinks party.

With catering options available you can choose from a seasonal British menu to enjoy in this green oasis.

As long as the weather holds up.

4. A modern garden for hire: Laban Gardens, Laban Building

London

A striking garden for a striking performance.

Set against the backdrop of the famed music and contemporary dance school, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, is their modern garden space, Laban Gardens.

With structured, angular hills and steps leading to the performance space, the 600 square metre garden actually was originally designed (and is still used) as an amphitheatre.

Now, the garden is host to events, alongside performances. Seating up to 200 guests, this versatile space can be used for dinners, parties, corporate events and ceremonies.

The stage is set, the weather is, hopefully, good, and now all that’s left is an event to take centre stage.

You can find the Laban Gardens and Trinity Laban on Romney Road.

5. A spacious London garden for hire: Inner Temple Garden, The Inner Temple

London

Three acres of sprawling green fields. Surrounded by large trees. Steps leading to old buildings.

Tucked away behind these buildings is The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple’s (or the Inner Temple, to you and me) spacious garden.

It’s obvious why one of the first things you notice about it is the space. The spacious garden has room for up to 300 guests, but with their summer marquee, it can easily fit up to 600 people.

6. A garden venue for outdoor weddings: Ranelagh Gardens

London

Summer weddings are popular for a reason. The weather. The instant mood boost. The late evenings. The scenery. The perfect conditions for memories and photos.

Nestled in the Royal Hospital Chelsea is Ranelagh Gardens, the current home to the Chelsea Flower Show, and what can be described as a dreamy and leafy escape from Chelsea’s busy streets.

With three garden levels, this private garden venue is ideal space for weddings, summer parties and other seasonal events for up to 350 guests.

Ranelagh Gardens are available for private hire between July - September.

7. A fun garden party venue for hire: Walks and Marquee, The Honourable Society of Gray's Inn

London

There’s just something about the law and lawns. Nestled in Gray’s Inn, one of the societies that trains and supports barristers, are The Walks and Marquee.

The five-acre garden has been host to fun fairs, private parties, concerts, corporate events and barbecues over the past few years.

During the summer, The Marquee offers a good balance between outdoor events and indoor coverage.

For private venue hire, you can host events for up to 1000 guests. Find them a few minutes away from Chancery Lane tube station.

How to hire a garden in London

We know that finding a venue the old-fashioned way (where you trawl the internet, contact 10 venues or set your heart on one, only to find that they're out of your price range and not even available on your dates) is a pain, and there are a few pitfalls between you and booking your perfect garden. Getting the venue finding process down to a professional art is what we’ve made our mission ever since we took on the events industry. We often get asked the same questions, so here's what we recommend to quickly and easily hire a space in London.

Frequently asked questions

For gardens in London, you're spoilt for choice. Here are a few extra special ones that we vouch for:

Shoreditch Gardens – With ample space and the historic museum in the background, this garden is a perfect place for your next summer party.

Ranelagh Gardens, Royal Hospital Chelsea – This beautiful garden is popular (and for good reason) – it's the perfect place for a summer wedding.

There really is no one answer to this question: so many variables come into play when understanding the cost of exclusive hire of a garden. How many guests are you planning for? Is the venue for the day, an afternoon, or the night? The good news is that you can find a venue for pretty much any budget (okay, almost any budget). Instead of letting the venue dictate the price, our advice is to be proactive and set a budget that you feel comfortable with – this way the right venues can reach out to you through HeadBox.

There are lots of ways to book a London garden. You can do the old-fashioned thing and pick up the phone, or email the venue directly. Unfortunately, lots of venues are busy and may not get back to you in time. That's where we come in. Give us your enquiry and we'll reach out to the best gardens in London and let you enjoy your free time. Easy.
