The materials are carefully chosen to support elite physical performances, including acoustic treatments and high-spec floor surfaces – with four spaces to choose from, the largest can accommodate up to 150 people.

The largest contemporary dance centre in the world – and proud winner of major architectural prizes – the Laban Building's stunning environment promises to elevate any work in progress. Over a dozen rehearsal spaces can handle anywhere up to 200 people, or, if you're ready for showtime, their full performance theatre is also available for hire.

Whether you're dialling up the drama or singing in sweet harmony, a rehearsal at the Seven Dials Playhouse may be in order. Right in the heart of London's theatre district, there are two straightforward studios to choose from (with room for 30 or 60 seated, respectively) it's a dead-central spot for run-throughs, table-reads, workshops and other creative pursuits. Tables, chairs, sofas, and pianos can also be provided.

With 50 years of creative heritage, the crisp and clean rehearsal studios at Old Diorama Arts Centre are built to be multipurpose. All configurations of seating setups are possible from boardroom style scriptwork to theatre-style layouts, or clear the decks to rehearse movement-based work with room for up to 100 guests standing. Situated close to Euston and St. Pancras, it's also a fine location if you're hosting visiting creative collaborators from the Midlands or north of England.

A characterful warehouse building overlooking the Hertford Union canal - and just a minute's walk from east London's Victoria Park – the Chisenhale Dance Space offers two rehearsal studios to choose from. Both offer tons of natural light, sprung dance floors and sound systems to pump up the volume, while the larger space offers tiered spectator seating for up to 50 audience members.

This straightforward blank canvas space in Islington is suitable for all sorts of events, from yoga to workshops, and naturally makes a fine location for any rehearsal. There's room for up to 100 people, a projector, surround-sound speakers, and air conditioning to keep things cool as your performance heats up.

Turn the lights down low at this little Camden theatre. For just £15/hour, you can take over Etcetera's black-box theatre space for rehearsals (or even performances!) while the raked auditorium seatings has room for 42 guests. An array of AV equipment, including projector and microphones, is also on pffer – very useful if you're practicing a big presentation.

If you're looking for a rehearsal space that's a little less austere, pop up to the Marie Lloyd Room above the Rosemary Branch Theatre in Shoreditch. Eschewing white walls, mirrors and barres for cosy, colourful vibes, this 40sqm space can be used to practice scenes, pitches, or - thanks to the piano and boombox provided - rousing musical numbers. Even better, at the back you'll find a bar, which can be staffed, ready to toast your bravura performance.

It's no surprise that the esteemed Royal College of Music offers a plethora of rehearsal studios and performance spaces. Our favourite might just be the Parry Rooms, a stunning wood-panelled space with views of the Royal Albert Hall, a grand piano, and room for up to 100 guests. Or, for a simpler look, try their black-box performance space.
