Our selection of the best Notting Hill private dining venues

Located just north of Kensington, the neighbourhood of Notting Hill is best known for colourfully painted houses, Portobello Road Market, and, of course, Hugh Grant’s impossibly floppy curtains.

Amidst the countless vintage shops and Notting Hill tote bags, there is a private dining scene that reflects the area’s rich cultural history, each with different influences, aesthetics and flavours.

Where else could you find pub grub, American diner food and Lebanese cuisine all within walking distance?

Take our word for it. We’re just a venue tech company, standing in front of a customer, telling them which private dining locations we love.

1. Seasonal cuisine that embodies the essence of the Palestinian coast: Akub

Notting Hill, London

Helmed by Chef Fadi Kattan, Akub is a Palestinian restaurant located in picturesque Notting Hill Gate. The menu honours the rich diversity of culinary traditions from Palestine combined with locally sourced British ingredients.

Akub's interior design and atmosphere is understated and elegant and we highly recommend the exclusivity of its upstairs space for a Notting Hill private dining experience. Upstairs at Akub can accommodate 30 seated guests and 50 for a standing reception with drinks and canapés.

What we love about Akub is the showcase of Palestinian hospitality best experienced around a tawla, dining tables with sharing plates offering the flavours and fragrances of this region of the Mediterranean coastline. One of the loveliest places for private dining, Akub is know to host a spectacular brunch so don't limit yourself to just dinner.

2. Dishes cooked on an open fire and private dining in a wine room: Caia

Notting Hill, London

Caia is a cool little Notting Hill spot near Westbourne Park. A dimly-lit wine bar great for listening to a curated vinyl collection of rare Jazz, Funk, Disco, and Soul. Caia offers the semi-private Wine Room for hire, a space that can accommodate 10 for a seated dinner and 18 for a standing reception of drinks and canapés.

The Notting Hill private dining experience at Caia offers a seasonally crafted menu of wine-friendly fare cooked on a custom-made open-fire grill. The dishes are designed to share and savour–as food should be, in our opinion. Caia has the atmosphere, the music, and the flavours we want and thus earned its way onto our list.

3. Quirky and colourful: The Little Yellow Door

Notting Hill, London

The Little Yellow Door is a bar and restaurant that truly captures the essence of Notting Hill. It's like stepping into your eclectic, maximalist friend’s flat with different coloured walls, vintage furniture and one-of-a-kind thrifted decor.

Their menu is just as free-spirited as their decor. Try one of their many cocktails, all named after iconic movies in their DVD collection and served in household objects. We recommend the Kill Bill served in a teacup or the Love Actually served in a flute.

They have two separate spaces available for private hire, or you can go wild and book both. The Living Room and Kitchen give off that homey feel that is desired for cocktail parties. It can host 60 people standing and comes with different seating options like sofas, bar chairs and booths.

The Flatmate’s Den is a downstairs party room for events of up to 100 people. It includes a bar, sofas, projector, DVD player and even Mario Kart. The Little Yellow Door even provides their in-house DJ for an additional rate. All of this makes it a top pick for a Notting Hill private dining experience.

4. The laid-back private dining experience: The Pelican Room at The Pelican

Notting Hill, London

The Pelican sits at the corner of All Saints Road and Tavistock Road – a long-standing pub that has become a cornerstone for Notting Hill. They focus on locally sourced ingredients and making the place feel laid back.

The Pelican has a classic selection of wines, beers, and cocktails. We highly recommend their lobster & monkfish pie with lobster head gravy or the turbot – you know what? We can recommend most of their menu.

The Pelican Room has an earthy, minimalist vibe to it with dainty decor, an original wood-burning fireplace, and windows overlooking the garden that provide great natural light. It can accommodate up to 30 guests seated and 45 standing for dinner parties, receptions or any other event. The Pelican also allows you to curate menu choices for your event.

5. Somewhere in the French countryside: The Cellar Space at the Mall Tavern

Notting Hill, London

Break away from traditional private dining spaces in the Cellar Space at the Mall Tavern, a craft beer dining pub located in the heart of Notting Hill Gate, right next to the station.

The Cellar Space has that rustic, country-side feel with exposed brick and a feature wall showcasing different wine bottles. The venue can host dinners for 12 to 26 people and up to 50 people standing.

Guests can enjoy champagne on arrival in a separate room and then move through to the main cellar for the private dining event. The food & drink packages have options of 4-course meals, buffets, drink party canapes, or a la carte dining.

6. Sunday in Brooklyn: A taste of the “Big Apple”

Notting Hill, London

Get a taste of American classics at Sunday in Brooklyn, a New York City-based restaurant that opened its first international location in Notting Hill near the Notting Hill Gate station. The restaurant is known for its twists on American cuisine and cocktails. We recommend their smash burger and for drinks, consider the Kyoto yacht club made with gin, pomegranate, and lemon.

Sunday in Brooklyn has three private dining options. The private dining room is ideal for 16 to 20 people looking for an intimate dinner spot. The basement is better suited for larger parties like company events, birthday parties or rehearsal dinners. The basement can cater to 60 seated guests or 70 standing guests and comes with a private bar.

Sunday in Brooklyn is also a top pick for larger Notting Hill private dining occasions. For events of 150 to 200 guests, consider a buyout of the entire venue with an open-concept area upstairs, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a large event space featuring a private bar. You can also customise options for a brunch or dinner menu.

7. Just like Nonna’s: Italian Design Kitchen at Enrica Rocca Cooking School

Notting Hill, London

Searching for a venue space for more intimate events? Look no further than the Italian Design Kitchen at Enrica Rocca Cooking School. It’s a fully functioning studio kitchen that usually hosts cooking classes, and while it's not your typical restaurant or dining area, the space will meet all your private dining needs.

Designed with an Italian theme in mind, the kitchen features top-of-the-line appliances like Gaggenau ovens, Lacanche gas hobs, and comes complete with pots, pans, and cooking utensils if you decide to whip up your own dishes. You can even choose between in-house catering or external catering. The kitchen can seat 24 people – 12 at the long wooden island in the centre and an additional 12 people at a wooden dining table. We like the Italian Design Kitchen for offering an activity-based Notting Hill private dining experience.

8. Dark and Stylish: The Elgin Club Rooms

Notting Hill, London

Steps away from Ladbroke Grove station is the Elgin, an elegant restaurant and bar situated down the street from Portobello Road Market. It’s traditional through and through, with its crown moulding, wooden decor, and old portraits lining the walls.

We highly suggest the chicken supreme and pan-fried halibut from their private dining set menu. Their mains pair well with a drink from their extensive wine menu which includes all the wine you could ever want or need: reds, whites, rosé, champagne, and sparkling wine.

The Elgin has different rooms for private hire. The Elgin Palace includes a ground-floor bar area with a mix of seating and standing arrangements. For more formal events, try the first-floor Long Room – aptly named for the long table that stretches the length of the room. Both can accommodate up to 50 standing and 20-24 seated guests.

The Round Room is ideal for smaller meetings or dinners and includes a private bar. If your event needs even more space, go for the entire first floor – a combination of the Long and Round rooms that can allow for 70 standing guests and 36 seated.

9. It’s never too cheesy: The Oak W2

Notting Hill, London

The Oak W2 is known for their fine ingredients, focus on quality and opulent aesthetic. They use flour sourced from a specific Italian milling company which makes for a crispy and healthy pizza – Oak W2’s signature dish.

Their cocktail lounge area is great for receptions and is filled with comfy and quirky furniture. For more formal events, try the first-floor private dining room that can seat up to 20 guests for a two, three or four-course meal. Or book both for the best of both worlds. This Notting Hill private dining venue allows you to select a few main dishes and desserts or you can do a dry hire.

10. A posh spot: the Windsor Suite at the Milestone Hotel and Residences

Notting Hill, London

The Windsor Suite at the Milestone Hotel is located on the border of Notting Hill and Kensington, just down the road from High Street Kensington station – in case your limo cancels on you. Across the street from Kensington Palace and Hyde Park, it's the type of location for when you’re feeling swish.

The Windsor Suite private dining room has that classic 19th-century old-world charm with pine panelling, Victorian furnishings, and big windows that let in a lot of natural light. This Notting Hill private dining room can cater to 12 to 40 guests depending on the seating style for a range of events.

Enjoy customised menu options like the 28-day Hanged Beef Fillet Wellington or pan-fried Gressingham Duck Breast under an elegant chandelier next to an open fireplace. Like we said, it’s for when you’re feeling swish.

11. Classy with a modern twist: The Eagle

Notting Hill, London

On the border of North Kensington and Notting Hill is the Eagle, a gastropub specialising in traditional British food. The Eagle Lounge is a private room with chairs and sofas – ideal for meetings, presentations, and after-work drinks, and has a capacity of 55 standing and 40 seated.

You can’t go wrong with their chicken and leek pie nor their bacon chop – trust us. As for drinks, their menu is a mile long (literally). Try their Eagle Signature Gin and Tonic and the Eagle Flute – two of their signature drinks.

The Nest Room is right next door to the Eagle Lounge and is great for smaller gatherings of up to 20 standing and 15 seated. Both rooms come with a private bar. If you need additional room, you can always merge the two for a capacity of 80 guests standing. This Notting Hill private dining venue also provides set menus, meeting packages, and canapés – sorted.

pink room akoya notting hill private dining london

12. No such thing as too much pink: The Pink Room at Akoya

Notting Hill, London

Portobello Road’s Akoya is a restaurant that combines the owners’ love for their Lebanese heritage and … sneakers; yes, you read that correctly. While we don’t quite understand this combination, Akoya somehow manages to get away with it.

For mezzes, we recommend the fatayer sabanekh, a pastry filled with spinach, onion, tomato, pine nuts, and lemon. And for mains, try the grilled halloumi wrap or the kafta meshwi – grilled lamb skewers. Their drinks menu is all-encompassing and includes Lebanese wine and classic cocktails.

Their Pink Room is – you guessed it – very pink. The corner of the room features a flower canopy that acts as colour diversity for the room and a backdrop for pictures. The room can seat up to 22 people, and Akoya can provide packages for specific events. With a traditional Lebanese menu and wines and shisha, Akoya is a Notting Hill private dining venue offering something a little different, and we appreciate it.
