London's best party venues

In the UK's party scene, London undeniably reigns supreme. The sheer sprawling size of the capital ensures a party is always going on, somewhere – you just have to know how to find it.

London party venues benefit massively from the breadth of different spaces on offer. From historic venues that don't mind a bit of hedonism to the weird and wonderful unusual party spaces nestled in London's labyrinthine alleys and roads. Fortunately, we spend an unhealthy amount of time 'researching' the best of London's party spaces. Take a look at a few of our favourites below.

1. A London party venue that has everything under one roof: Lalaland

Taking up residence in the much missed vacant lot left by Dinerama, Lalaland summons the spirit of LA into a multi-vendor party space.

Sporting palm trees, waterfalls, mezzanines and rooftop bars, the folks at Lalaland have doubled down on Californian day-party vibes. They offer private hire on their many spaces, though can also just tip on the day and scramble with the masses for food from one of the 15 street food vendors.

Private hire is available in one their many spaces, though full venue hire will set you back a great deal.

2. A technologically drive golf party venue: Puttshack

Another day another crazy golf course in London, it seems.

Whilst the roads and alleys of the capital may seem thick with clubs, tees and fluorescent visors, Puttshakc bring a genuinely fresh take to the time-tested activity of party golf in London.

Golf balls fitted out with sensors record every swing, putt and frustrated smash as you negotiate the increasingly maniacal courses. With interactive games that provide instant prizes, or force you and your opponents into golf-based truth or dare, this is a truly interactive venue.

Make your way down to Bank where you can enjoy multiple private spaces, a full food and drink menu and bespoke packages to fit your London party.

3. Party in the clouds: Sky Garden

You've almost definitely heard of it.

The focus point of every third date, the land of public engagements, panoramic Instagram posts and home of high-altitude plants: Sky Garden.

Offering sweeping views over London, Sky Garden offers your party-goers a chance for multiple slack-jaw breaks as they fruitlessly try to point out their apartment block all the way over in Putney.

A reception here can be put on for up to 700 people, with the Fenchurch Restaurant catering for up to 40. For those of you who want to spend 24 hours at 160m, exclusive hire (and here exclusive really means exclusive) is on offer from 6 am-6 am, or full a half day from 4 pm-2 am.

4. London's hi-tech bingo venue to party in: Hijingo

Bingo, it appears, is no longer the pastime of pensioners.

Bringing your Grandma's favourite game into the 21st Century, Hijingo are London's party venue that puts emphasis on multi-sensory fun that isn't afraid to get weird.

The 90-minute bingo games make full use of the state-of-the-art lighting and AV, bringing a spectacle of flashes, blurs and booms to the 250 bewildered guests. It's a party venue best experienced with a fair amount of booze (the menu is pretty extensive, with both food and drink reflecting the distinctly east Asian flair at Hijingo's foundations). The prizes, if you were wondering, are pretty eclectic. We're talking everything from (more) booze to designer clothing, cash and European holidays.

The whole venue can be hired out for you and your friends to party in, with the adjoining Lucky Cat reception bar being hireable for welcome drinks or as a break out space.

5. A party venue in one of London's best Hotels: The Ned

Wanting a humble, understated party venue in London? Keep scrolling.

The Ned is a huge, 250-bedroom hotel in the heart of The City. With a spa, gym, roof terrace, swimming pool and overarching 1920s aesthetic, The Ned is out to impress.

Whilst the prospect of partying in a London hotel may seem outdated (hello, Boomer), their range of private spaces to hire actually makes the prospect quite palatable.

6. London's sky-high party venue: Landing Forty Two

Arriving at the towering glass-and-steel sculpture of the Leadenhall Building (the Cheese Grater to most), you'd be forgiven for thinking you were about to go to work in a faceless conglomerate with a name plucked straight from the Greek alphabet.

One private entrance and an elevator later, and you emerge, Forty-Two stories up, onto one of London's highest blank canvas event spaces. The interior is very Pompidou centre (no surprise, this being a Richard Rodgers building). Exposed pipework and ducting lead you neatly through a large open space than can accommodate 300 guests.

The draw, of course, is the view. Landing Forty-Two offers an expansive view over the City of London, with iconic buildings like the Gherkin and the Shard demanding your attention as soon as you enter the space. At night things are even more impressive: the city ignites in a sea of colours and provides a thrilling backdrop to your London party.

The space is partitionable and the venue even offers projection capabilities – though why you'd want to distract from that view, we can't imagine.

7. A London party venue to get absolutely Masonic in: The Grand Temple, Freemason's Hall

The home of the Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of England, Freemason's Hall is a bastion of over-the-top decor and, clearly, naming conventions.

Situated between Holborn and Covent Garden, this London venue offers your party a vast space capable of housing 1450 attendees. There is a central chequered dancefloor, a ritual-worthy stage and a whole lot of strange art-deco designs depicting strange rituals from the Victorian's answer to fantasy football.

Private hire here gets you all the essential components of a great London party: Drinks on arrival, a range of food options from seated dinner to bowl food, access to the ample house wine and beer offerings, hi-spec AV, event security and honorary membership into the world's least secretive secret society. Okay, maybe not the last one.

8. Party with in the City with one of London's best golf venues: Swingers

Pitch, putt, pints. This seems to be the ethos behind one of London's best crazy golf courses.

With two 9-hole courses to play from, Swingers demands a keen eye and a steady hand to make it through the various mechanised obstacles that litter the turf. Since 2016 the venue has delighted and frustrated budding golfers with an array of imaginative spaces in which to strike a ball with a club into a hole in the ground.

The golf, though, is only part of the Swingers offering. Where they stand out is the excellent food offerings available to you on and off the course. Partnering with street food aficionados like Pizza Pilgrims, Patty & Bun and Crosstown Doughnuts, Swingers has wisely made the most of the London food scene. The drinks are worth trying, too, with our favourite being the Helter Skelter: a bewildering mix of Gin, Aperol, Seltzer and fruit. Just don't expect any holes in one after a few of those.

9. A historically grounded London party venue: Banqueting House

Partying in a truly historical venue is a fantastic way to let loose. Surrounded by gilded decorations, well-tread carpets and the ghosts of revellers past, you get a sense of the grand tradition of a London party.

Banqueting House has a good claim to being one of London's most historically enriched venues. Built for James I by architect Inigo Jones, the Palladian spectacle has seen all sorts of historical figures: from Poccahonta's appearance to the gawping aristocrats, to the final hours of Charles I, it is truly a space that lies at the junction of grand events.

Banqueting House is a London party venue for those not afraid of going all out. Glittering chandeliers cast light on a wide dining hall, flanked by towering alabaster pillars. Dancing, you may glance upwards and catch sight of the sumptuous ceiling, painted by Ruebens in 1636 and marvel at the Apotheosis of James I. You don't see that at Fabric.

If all this sounds like your ideal party venue, then Banqueting House offers private hire for all sorts of occasions. Capacity for 500, alongside other spaces (including the undercroft) give you a wide range of private hire options, ensuring you have full control over your London party.

10. London's exclusive party on the Thames: Silverfleet Sturgeon

The Thames

Want to party within earshot of lapping waves and pitching gulls?

Silver Sturgeon, the largest vessel in Silver Fleet's collection, brings the river yacht into the 21st century. With 2 decks, 3 bars, a dance floor and exclusive docking access across London, Silver Sturgeon promises you a prestigious party on the Thames, come day or night.

So, if hedonism on the high seas is your thing, you and 550 friends can get your London party off to a rollicking start. Just try not to go overboard with the nautical puns.

In the party mood? You’re in luck – London is full of perfect party venues. Whether you want a big blow-out, have a unique party idea or want something a little more intimate, we've got you covered. Check out these amazing venues near you for a party to remember for years to come. Get your party shoes on - here are our top private party venues in London.

Your guide to London's party venues

There are few cities that can keep up with London when it comes to parties. The capital has some of the best party venues – be it small, intimate venues, massive party event spaces or quirky, unique venues that will elevate your private bash. Planning the perfect party can often feel like a mammoth task: with so many options you can often get lost in a labyrinth of endless choices and options. At HeadBox we pride ourselves on being party experts – we’ve planned every kind of soiree you can imagine and we’re here to help you party the right way without losing sleep.

From small party halls to large party venues

A great party has the perfect-sized venue for the kind of bash you’re planning to throw. Chances are you won’t want to hire out a whole converted warehouse for you and three friends (unless you really like your personal space). If it’s just you and a few close friends then you may want to consider hiring out one of London’s many amazing bars, or a small hall if that’s more up your street. For the bigger parties, we have an amazing catalogue of aesthetically impressive event spaces and outdoor venues that can accommodate an army of party-goers.

Canapes? Cocktails? Both?

Think carefully about what you want to supply for your lucky party guests. If you’re opting for food then it’s a good idea to consider the costs and benefits of different catering options. A sit-down meal will set you back more than a selection of snacks, and you’ll want to include private dining venues in your possible party venues. Alternatively, you can focus more on drinks with some of London’s top cocktail bars and make it a night to (sort of ) remember. Fancy a mixture? Lots of London pubs and bars will let you hire out your private space and have delicious food options as well, that way you and your friends can stay watered and fed and keep the energy going.

Location is key

A party is a great way to bring all your loved ones together. Part of the fun is seeing friends that may live in the far corners of the country – for them though, it might mean a bit of travelling. Plan sympathetically to your guests by scoping out the local transport links – London is super connected to all major UK cities, and it’s a good idea to look for venues that aren’t too far from the main train stations or, if you’re expecting an international crowd, perhaps look for some of the great airport-adjacent venues.

Top tip: When sending out your party invite it’s a good idea to note down the best ways to get to the venue - that way no one will find themselves lost or unable to park and missing the great vibes.

For party venues in London, you're spoilt for choice. Here are a few extra special ones that we vouch for:

Terrace, Big Chill Kings Cross – Chill out, and enjoy the live music (and the sun) at this rooftop haven.

Bunga Bunga Covent Garden – With a starry ceiling and cabaret-style interiors, this London party venue is a must-visit.

There really is no one answer to this question: so many variables come into play when understanding the cost of exclusive hire of a party venue. How many guests are you planning for? Is the venue for the day, an afternoon, or the night? The good news is that you can find a venue for pretty much any budget (okay, almost any budget). Instead of letting the venue dictate the price, our advice is to be proactive and set a budget that you feel comfortable with – this way the right venues can reach out to you through HeadBox.

There are lots of ways to book a London party venue. You can do the old-fashioned thing and pick up the phone, or email the venue directly. Unfortunately, lots of venues are busy and may not get back to you in time. That's where we come in. Give us your enquiry and we'll reach out to the best party venues in London and let you enjoy your free time. Easy.
